Italian language school
The "Piccola Università Italiana" was founded in 1993 as “Caffè Culturale”. In 2004 the name was changed to “Piccola Università Italiana” as our courses are now authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. The Italian language school in Tropea, not far from Capo Vaticano, is staffed by language teachers who are all native speakers and university graduates with years of experience behind them. Our staff are experts in teaching their own language to students, business people, and lovers of the Italian language and culture from overseas.


Italian language courses
At the Piccola Università Italiana the students find Italian language courses for all levels and needs. The group courses in small groups of 4-6 students and the Individual courses are organized in order to ensure the maximum space for practising speaking the language. We have got the following 5 levels plus sublevels in our program: beginners, elementary level, intermediate level, advanced level and higher level. We also offer a preparatory course for the CILS exam at the University of Siena and for the IT exam at the University Roma III.  By the way, the intensive course C is recognized as study vacation in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Rheinland-Pfalz.

Leisure activities
Besides its cultural attractions and magical atmosphere, the "pearl of Calabria" offers many opportunities for relaxing.
The ideal location of Tropea, which allows one to make many interesting trips, for instance to the fabulous nature reserve in the Sila mountains, to the volcanic island of Stromboli, or to culturally rich Taormina in Sicily.
Furthermore the students can attend a painting course as well as a cooking course specialized on the Calabrian cuisine or practice a variety of sports like mountain biking , tennis, horse riding on the beach, golf, catamaran sailing, surfing, diving and snorkeling.
Accommodation
The schools organizes also the accommodation in studio flats or in shared apartments.
The typical studio flat consists of a large room with a corner for cooking and washing, while the shared apartments have two or three bedrooms plus a kitchen and one or two bathrooms. The majority of the apartments are situated in the centre of Tropea and have a terrace or balcony with a view of the sea or of the hills behind the town.
