Certificado Básico de Español del Turismo
This certificate serves as proof of basic knowledge of the Spanish language specifically related to tourism (hotel, gastronomy, travel reservation). Candidates should have reached the level of grammar knowledge corresponding to the intermedio level of the Instituto Cervantes curriculum before taking the examination. Participants should be able to understand simple documents and texts related to tourism. They should have sufficient knowledge to correspond and prepare travel routes and thereby use the appropriate terminology. They can hold simple conversations (telephone reservations, guests receptions, etc.) and express themselves in a simple manner in touristic topic areas.
Structure
Written exam
- Reading comprehension; 20 points (20 minutes)
- Language proficiency; 20 points (30 minutes)
- Creation of texts; 20 points (40 minutes)
Oral exam
- Oral examination; 20 points (eight minuts)
Results
The exam has a total of 80 points. In order to pass the exam, the candidates must have at least 40 points including 30 points from the written exam and 10 points from the oral exam. A candidate can fail the exam if they receive zero points in one of the test sections. Anyone who fails the written examination has no chance to take the verbal examination. No documents or dictionaries may be used during the examination. A candidate can also fail the exam if the answers are given in illegible handwriting.
