Test in Swedish for University Studies (TISUS)
The Test in Swedish for University Studies was developed by the Department of Scandinavian Languages (Institutionen för nordiska språk) at Stockholm University in co-operation with the Universities of Gothenburg, Linköping, Lund, Malmö, Umeå and Uppsala. The difficulty of this exam corresponds to level C1 of the Central European Framework, which gives eligibility to university studies in Sweden.
Structure
The test consists of three parts:
- Reading; candidates have to complete different tasks based on five to seven texts testing reading strategies and vocabulary (75 minutes)
- Writing; students are required to write a short summary of a text as well as a personal statement based on given guidelines (two hours 30 minutes)
- Speaking; candidates have to introduce themselves, participate in a conversation on a chosen topic and negotiate (30 minutes)
Results
There are are only pass (Godkänd) and fail (Underkänd) grades. Candidates who fail the oral/written component may discuss their performance with an assessor.
Each component is equally weighted:
Reading 33,3 %
Writing 33,3 %
Speaking 33,3 %
If a candidate fails one component it is possible to retake that part of the examination again within a period of one year.
