Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL-TRKI 1)
The test of Russian as a foreign language is carried out within the Russian National State Testing System of the Russian Language for Foreigners created by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The exam measures the language proficiency of non-native speakers and their ability to use Russian in formal and informal everyday situations. Candidates who have passed the TORFL receive an officially recognized certificate that serves for educational and business purposes.
The TORFL- TRKI 1certifies that the applicant has reached an intermediate level of communicative skills on a variety of social, cultural and professional topics. It also serves as an entry qualification for Russian educational institutions.
Structure of the exam:
- Reading; consists of three tasks with a total of 20 multiple-choice questions based on both informative (factual) and descriptive texts with the elements of discussion
- Writing; consists of a reproduction task (reproduce the gist of the heard or read text) and a composition task (create a text that contains at least 110 words)
- Listening; consists of two tasks and a total of 30 multiple-choice items based on three monologues and three dialogues
- Speaking; consists of tasks that require participating in a dialogue, responding to questions of a conversational nature and conversing on various topics
- Structural competence; consists of four parts with a total number of 165 multiple-choice and matching items
Results:
Each component is equally weighted at 20% of the total mark. There are three passing grades (A, B and C) and certificates are awarded to all successful candidates. Grade D is unsatisfactory and no certificate is awarded.
- Level A - 85 % - 100 %
- Level B - 75 % - 84 %
- Level C - 66 % - 74 %
- Level D - less than 66 %
