Certificat de capacitaci per a la correcci de textos orals i escrits

The Certificat de capacitació per a la correcció de textos orals i escrits serves as proof of Catalan language knowledge for business settings (administration or economics), study or private life, and is available for anyone older than 16 years. The certificate was developed by the authority Direcció general de Política Lingueística (DGPL) and examines whether the participants are able to edit written and verbal texts. Participants should exhibit the following: extensive knowledge in editing and proof-reading Catalan; editing texts in accordance with text requirements; knowledge of different editing techniques; correct application of the orthography; knowledge of the most prominent language learning methods.
This language examination corresponds to the Certificat de Certificat de de capacitació per a la correcció de textos orals i escrits (K) according to the Junta Permanent de Català.
In order to complete this language examination, the participant should have already completed the Certificat de suficiència de català (C) or an equivalent.


Structure

  • Verbal correction; correcting three verbal texts, each lasting one minute, including phonetic correction. The texts are replayed four times via tape recorder (45 minutes)
  • Written correction; editing three written texts, e.g. a Catalan translation (30 lines), a technical language text and a commentated correction of a text (two hours 15 minutes)
  • Typographic correction; proofreading a text for spelling mistakes and typos (15 lines) and correcting a text using the usual abbreviations (variable)
  • Language teaching knowledge; two questions with two options each. The tasks can be different and a comment is usually written on different works or certain aspects of different works (60 minutes)


Results


Participants are expected to concentrate on corrections, which are absolutely necessary. Any redundant corrections can lead to point deduction. The verbal and written correction sections are worth 30%. each, typographic correction and language teaching knowledge are worth 20% each. Candidates can receive either a apto (pass) or no apto (fail) grade.
In order to pass the examination, the participants must have at least 66% of the total score and 50% in the verbal and written correction sections. If one of these sections shows 10 errors or more, the candidate will not immediately receive a passing grade.

The examination lasts four hours.
