Certificat de coneixements de llenguatge comercial

The Certificat de coneixements de llenguatge comercial serves as proof of Catalan language knowledge for business settings (administration or economics), study or private life, and is available for anyone older than 16 years. The certificate was developed by the authority Direcció general de Política Lingueística (DGPL) and examines the comprehension (written and verbal) of trade texts in Catalan, focused on bookkeeping, internal communication, public administration and commercial correspondence. This language examination corresponds to the Certificat de ceneixements suficients de llenguatge comercial (M) according to the Junta Permanent de Català.

In order to complete this language examination, the participant should have already completed the Certificat de suficiència de català (C) or an equivalent.


Structure

  • Reading comprehension; candidates must solve problems associated with commercial texts including answering true/false or matching questions and correlating text fragments
  • Written expression; creating compositions from commercial texts
  • Practical knowledge of commercial language; examination of grammar knowledge, vocabulary, specific knowledge of commercial language, knowledge of commercial text styles and their function. Solution of seven different tasks including gap filling, replacing words or sentences with synonyms or an equivalent sentence, setting punctuation marks, relating text fragments, replacing words by appropriate abbreviations or symbols, determining texts which are written for selected commercial purposes


Results

The written expression section is worth 50% of the total, reading comprehension 10% and the practical knowledge of commercial language 40%. Candidates can receive either a apto (pass) or no apto (fail) grade. In order to pass the examination, the participants must have at least 70% of the total score and 50% in written expression and practical knowledge of commercial language. If one of these sections shows 10 linguistic errors or more, the candidate will not immediately receive a passing grade.

The examination lasts two hours 30 minutes.
