Certificat de nivell superior de catal

The Certificat de nivell superior de català was established by the General Directorate of Linguistic Policy (DGPL) of the autonomous government of Catalonia. It examines the language skills at an advanced level and tests the candidates' ability to communicate correctly in formal situations and to analyse matters and concepts of the language system. The level of difficulty corresponds to the Certificat de coneixements superiors orals i escrits de català (D) of the Junta Permanent de Català exam.


Structure

  • Dictation and summary; candidates must dictate and a write a summary of 350 words
  • Writing; candidates must produce a formal text of a non-specialist nature consisting of approximately 200 words
  • Structural competence; candidates have to complete nine different tasks which will test their ability to analyse grammatical and lexical content
  • Knowledge of the historical and sociolinguistic background of the language; candidates have to complete four tasks including summary of a text, open questions and short-answer questions
  • Speaking; candidates will have to read a text of 300 words aloud and give a short formal speech


Results

Students are awarded either a aprobado (pass) or suspenso (fail) grade. To pass the exam candidates have to obtain at least 70% of the total marks and at least 50% on the dictation and summary, writing, structural competence and speaking sections.
