Certificat de nivell suficincia de catal

The Certificat de nivell suficiència de català was established by the General Directorate of Linguistic Policy (DGPL) of the autonomous government of Catalonia. The exam tests the formal or semi-formal language skills needed to communicate adequately and correctly. The level of difficulty corresponds to the Certificat de coneixements mitjans orals i escrits de català (C) of the Junta Permanent de Català exam.


Structure

  • Writing; candidates must write a 150 word-letter of and another formal text of 200 words (a commentary, opinion, etc.)
  • Reading; candidates must read and answer questions based on different texts (500-600 words each)
  • Grammar and vocabulary; candidates must complete six tasks which test their knowledge and command of the language system
  • Speaking; candidates are tested individually by two examiners and will be given three tasks including a monologue based on photographs, problem-solving and reading aloud


Results

The writing section carries 40% of the total grade, reading 10%, grammar and vocabulary 25% and speaking 25%. Students are awarded either a aprobado (pass) or suspenso (fail) grade. To pass the exam candidates must obtain at least 70% of the total and at least 50% in the written and spoken sections.
