Certificat de nivell intermedi de català
The Certificat de nivell intermedi de catalàwas established by the General Directorate of Linguistic Policy (DGPL) of the autonomous government of Catalonia. The examination is based on the Council of Europe's Vantage specification and tests the degree of linguistic independence and the ability of candidates to cope with a wide range of communicative situations. The level of difficulty corresponds to the Nivell avançat of the certificate Certificat internacional de català and Certificat de coneixements elementals orals i escrits de llengua catalana (B) established by Junta Permanent de Català. Candidates have to be at least 16 years of age.
Structure
- Reading; candidates are expected to read and understand various texts as well as respond to the corresponding comprehension tasks
- Writing; candidates must compose an informal personal letter and a formal text
- Listening comprehension; this section consists of three listening parts and candidates have to answer open and multiple-choice questions
- Speaking; candidates are tested in pairs and with the help of interactive materials. Tasks test the candidates' ability to organize their speech with coherence and to communicate with others
- Structural vocabulary competence; candidates must complete six tasks which test their knowledge and control of the language
Results
Each section is weighted at 20% of the total marks. There are three passing grades: excelente (excellent), notable (good) or bien y suficiente (satisfactory). To pass the exam candidates must obtain at least 60% in the speaking section and 60% in the other sections combined.
