Certificat de nivell elemental de catal
The Certificat Internacional de Català - Nivell Elemental was established by the General Directorate of Linguistic Policy (DGPL) of the autonomous government of Catalonia. The examination is based on the Council of Europe's Threshold specification and tests the ability to communicate satisfactorily in most everyday situations. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. The level of difficulty corresponds to the Nivell llindar level of the Certificate Certificat internacional de català and Certificat de coneixements orals bàsics de llengua catalana established by Junta Permanent de Català.
Structure
- Reading; there are 20 questions based on three texts with a total length of 1,200 words
- Writing; candidates must compose a personal letter between 120 and 150 words
- Listening comprehension; candidates must answer true/false and multiple-choice questions
- Oral expression; candidates have to participate in everyday conversations, describe things or express opinions
- Structural competence; candidates have to fill in gaps and restructure sentences demonstrating their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary
Results
The reading, listening comprehension and oral expression sections each carry 25% of the total grade and the writing and structural competence parts carry 12.5% each. There are three passing grades: excelente (excellent), notable (good) or bien y suficiente (satisfactory).
