JETRO Business Japanese Proficiency Test

The JETRO Business Japanese Proficiency Test was established by The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and is designed to measure and evaluate one's proficiency in understanding and using the Japanese language for business communications. The JETRO Test consists of the JLRT (JETRO Listening & Reading Comprehension Test) and the JOCT (JETRO Oral Communication Test).


JLRT (JETRO Listening & Reading Comprehension Test)

Structure

  • Listening; description, expression and listening comprehension (approx. 50 minutes)
  • Listening and reading part; description, listening and reading comprehension (approx. 30 minutes)
  • Reading; grammar and vocabulary, expression and listening comprehension (approx. 40 minutes)

  • J1+ (high)
  • J1
  • J2
  • J3
  • J4
  • J5 (low)


Results
JOCT candidates are informed of their final grade and provided with official certificates.


JOCT (JETRO Oral Communication Test)

Structure

  • Interview; the candidate talks with the examiner about his/her job and topical business subjects
  • Role-playing; the candidate responds in imaginary business situations, including monologues (short speeshes, etc)


Levels

  • A+ (Excellent)
  • A (Very good)
  • B+ (Good)
  • B (Satisfactory)
  • C (Weak)
  • D (Insufficient)


Results
JOCT candidates are informed of their final grade and provided with official certificates.
