National Vocational Certificate Level 2

The National Vocational Certificate Level 2 is the third vocational level that enables learners with general theoretical understanding to broaden knowledge and understanding to specified standards. The award enables learners to work independently subject to direction. Learners who have achieved a National Vocational Certificate at Level 2 may progress to higher education/training through the Higher Education Links Scheme or take up positions of employment. Candidates at Level 2 who have already obtained a certificate, and who wish to apply for a second one, may carry a maximum of four module credits (to include communications, work experience and two others) and must reach the required standard in four additional vocational modules.

Structure

The NCVA specifies the requirements for all certificates and all certificates are modular in structure. This certificate is awarded to learners who meet the required standard in a total of five vocational modules (combination of mandatory and elective modules), two general study modules (communication and another module from the list of approved Level 2 modules) and a one work experience module.

Results

A Record of Achievement is awarded to a learner who successfully completes one or more Level 2 modules. Credits may be accumulated over a period of time towards the achievement of the National Foundation Certificate.
