National Vocational Certificate Level 1

The National Vocational Certificate Level 1 is an introductory vocational level that enables learners to gain recognition for their individual talents, personal and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding to specified standards. This certificate qualifies learners for employment at an introductory vocational level and a programme leading to National Vocational Certificate Level 2 or equivalent.


Structure

The NCVA specifies the requirements for all certificates and all certificates are modular in structure. This certificate is awarded to learners who meet the required standard in a total of eight modules, comprising of four core modules (communications, mathematics, information technology skills personal effectiveness or personal and interpersonal skills) and any four elective modules from the list of approved modules.


Results

A Record of Achievement is awarded to a learner who successfully completes one or more Level 1 modules. Credits may be accumulated over a period of time towards the achievement of the National Foundation Certificate.
