Egypt

No inoculations are officially required.

Inoculations for typhoid fever, polio, diphtheria, hepatitis A+B, meningitis, rabies and tetanus are recommended.

In some areas it is also recommended to take measures to combat malaria. Visitors often develop stomach pains and problems with digestion. An appropriate first-aid kit should be assembled before departure.

To avoid infection, visitors should use bottled water for drinking and brushing their teeth. Visitors should also be cautious about any contact with indigenous people as many may have trachoma, an infectious eye disease which can result in possible blindness. Swimming or bathing in the Nile or other ground water should be avoided as hookworms found in the water can infect humans with schistosomiasis.

When working abroad for a period longer than one month, a negative HIV-Test (which has been taken in the last year) must be received and confirmed by the Egyptian consulate. This rule does not apply to tourists staying less than one month.
