Visa application
In order to apply for a visa for Italy one has to submit the following documents:
- A valid international passport and a photocopy of the passport
- A recent passport photo

- Visa fee in cash or by post order
- A return ticket or tickets for your onward journey
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of stay
Please note
Schengen visa: The nationals of countries which are required to have a Schengen visa are obliged to obtain the visa before arrival in Italy. The Schengen visa can be issued only in the country where the person has his/her permanent address registration. Travellers visiting just one Schengen country should apply to the Consulate of that country; travellers visiting more than one Schengen country should apply to the Consulate of the country chosen as the main destination or the country they will enter first (if they have no main destination).
Children: The official ID card for children (with no passport photo up to 10 years old and with an attached photo for children up to 16) is a sufficient document for entering the country. (Tip: Some air carriers such as Ryanair require passports with pictures of all their passengers. In this case having your children names in your passport is not enough.)
