Ecuador
In general
For entering Ecuador a valid passport is required.
- Nationals of Bolivia, Chile, Columbia and Peru are an exception from the general rule as they are allowed travel only with their valid ID cards.
- A visa is not required for a tourist visit up to 90 days.
Nationals from the following countries are an exception to the rule:
- Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, China (without the holders of Hong Kong passports), Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Korea (North & South), Cuba, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Vietnam as well as members of the Sikh-religion (regardless of nationality) and people holding Palestinian travel documents.
Nationals of the above mentioned countries are required to have a transit visa when entering the country.
Validity: Six months
Visa application
In order to apply for a visa for Ecuador, one has to submit the following documents:
- A valid international passport (valid at least six months beyond intended stay)
- Three to five recent passport photos
- Application form (it can also be downloaded online from the homepages of the Embassy and Consulate departments throughout the world)
- Visa fee paid in cash or by postal order
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of stay in the form of bank account statements, credit cards
- A return ticket
- Health certificate
Please note
Children: The official ID card for children (children older than three years old need to have a passport photo attached to their ID) is not sufficient - a passport is also required. Adolescents travelling without their parents or only with one of their parents need an authorized declaration from their parents allowing them to travel.
Important: Passports (Photocopies) must be carried at all times and can be controlled in Ecuador.
