Dominican Republic
In general
For entering the country a valid international passport is needed with a validity of not less than six months beyond the intended length of stay.
Nationals of the following countries are eligible for a tourist card:
- Nationals of Canada and the USA holding appropriate ID (Birth Certificate or a Driver's License)
- Nationals of Germany holding a National Identity Card
- Nationals of Albania, Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Czech Republic, French Overseas Territories, Hawaii, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Jamaica, Korea, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, the Russian Federation, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, San Marino, Suriname, Switzerland, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, Venezuela and Yugoslavia.
A visa is required for all other nationals who are not in possession of a tourist card.
Validity
Valid 30-90 days, depending on nationality. Extension is possible on request, depending on nationality.
Visa application
In order to apply for a visa for the Dominican Republic, one has to submit the following documents:
- A valid international passport (validity at least six months beyond intended stay)
- Three to five recent passport photos
- Application form (it can also be downloaded online from the homepages of the Embassy and Consulate departments throughout the world)
- Visa fee paid in cash or by postal order
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of stay- in the form of bank account statements, credit cards
- Birth certificate
Please note
Children: The official ID card for children (children older than three years old need to have a passport photo attached to their ID) is required. Children under 13 years old, traveling without their parents need an authorized declaration from their parents allowing them to travel.
