Welcome to Vilnius University – the oldest and largest Lithuanian higher education institution.

Department of Lithuanian Studies at Vilnius University offers courses of Lithuanian.
Students are divided up into three level groups: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The language of instruction is Lithuanian, except for introductory remarks in English for beginners. Intermediate and advanced groups are taught the following subjects: Lithuanian literature, ethnic culture, Lithuania’s history.

Lithuanian language Evening Course is intended for people who are busy in the daytime and because of their position cannot take a language course in the morning or in the afternoon. Twice a week for a period of three months, these people can take our Evening Course, after which they can enhance basic understanding of the language and acquire skills of spoken language.

Beside classes (4-6 academic hours a day), a wide cultural programme is offered during the Summer Courses: guided tours round Vilnius, visiting attractive sites of Lithuania, meeting celebrated people.

Students having completed the course receive Course Certificates, and those who have successfully passed the exams receive Graduation Diplomas of Vilnius University Lithuanian Studies.
