University of Ljubljana - Center for Slovene as a Second/Foreign LanguageThe Centre for Slovene as a Second/Foreign Language extends understanding of the Slovene language, literature and culture on an international scale. It also encourages international research in Slovene language and literature, organises professional and scientific conferences and develops the complete infrastructure for attaining, examining and certifying proficiency in Slovene as a second/foreign language. The programme has been designed for participants to study Slovene as a second/foreign language in Slovenia and occasionally also abroad. The courses are for foreigners whose first language is not Slovene and who have different demands, interests and goals. The programme offers a varied selection of language courses, differing in length (from 20 to 560 hours), intensity and goals. The most popular courses are those that combine language learning with studying modern culture and society in Slovenia. These are the Summer, One-Year and Winter Schools of Slovene Language which are of particular interest to participants from abroad. For those living in Slovenia there are courses on offer throughout the year, from the classical, which develop all the language skills equally, to the more specialised, such as survival courses, conversation, business Slovene, preparation for proficiency examinations and many more. |
